Ecology Club sponsors Earth Week celebration
April 26, 2016
This past week was Earth Week and to encourage students to take care of and appreciate the planet students live on, Ecology Club held a variety of activities.
“We tried mainly to raise awareness throughout the school on matters of environmental conservation. We’ve decorated the windows in the cafeteria as well as held a paper drive in the hallways to recycle separately, ” said Wendy Li, Ecology Club president.
The week came to a close with Earth Day on Friday, April 22 as students celebrated by wearing green while the Ecology Club stayed after school to lend their helping hand to the environment.
“Earth day was always meant to symbolize a moment of appreciation as well as being a time of reflection to think about what we do on a daily basis and what effect it has on people beyond and after,” said Ms. Lopez, Ecology Club sponsor.
Through simple things like recycling and turning off the lights when you leave the room, you too can make a lasting impact on the future of the Earth.
