With winter break quickly approaching, we finally have more time on our hands for holiday fun. If you’re bored with basic chocolate chip cookies, or just want an excuse to get some friends together for a baking party, try some of these fun and festive recipes
Rice Krispies Ornaments
Here’s a nice spin off the traditional Rice Krispies treats. They are made almost exactly like the original, except they are shaped like an ornament. This allows you to decorate with frosting and candies to your heart’s desire. They also make great DIY presents.
Salted and Malted Nutella Caramel Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies are wonderful, but if you are looking for something a little more decadent, try these cookies. They are a wonderful combination of crunchy and gooey. Try adding some sea salt or colored chocolate chips for a festive take.
Buche de Noel (Yule Log)
This holiday classic takes a little while to make but is great for a baking party because of the festivity of the dish and the amount of creativity you can have with it. Just be sure to watch some videos beforehand, so you get the shape right!
If you are planning any type of brunch get together this break these sticky buns are a must. They are relatively simple to make, satisfy all tastes and are definitely a step up from the Pillsbury kind. The pecans also act as a nice complement to the sweetness of the pastry. I suggest pairing them with a lighter, fresher side like a fruit salad.

Candy canes are a staple of this time of year but can often be too sweet or overpowering. Combining the taste of candy canes with a cookie proves a great solution to this problem.
