Students from all four grades involved in a competitive show choir participated in a performance over this weekend at the Community House.
Performing in a concert entitled “Broadway Our Way…and Beyond,” 17 Hinsdale Central students sang and danced to a variety of music for two hours.
“Chicagoland Ambassadors is a competitive show choir that is filled with high school kids from all over Chicagoland,” said Hannah Carroll, a senior who has been involved with the program since its beginning. “I was in the group when it originated four years ago and there were only 25 kids in it. Now it has grown to 51 and will probably grow even more as time goes on.”
Over the weekend, the Chicagoland Ambassadors performed their last non-competitive concert of the year. The program consisted of both show choir numbers and solos. Although this weekend was the last “Broadway Our Way” performance, the group still has many events coming up.
“We still have the competitions to look forward to, so that’s good,” said Carroll, who had solos in songs such as “Motown Medley,” “Get Happy,” and “Mamma Who Bore Me.”
The Chicagoland Ambassadors is a group students must audition for. “There are auditions in May and June comprised of both dancing and singing. Once you are accepted you may be considered for a solo performance throughout the show choir season,” Carroll said.
