Healthy fast food is finally here.
Many people avoid fast food restaurants because they are unhealthy and greasy. However, a new franchise restaurant called Freshii opened in Oak Brook. Freshii offers a variety of choices from burritos, wraps, bowls, salads, soups and breakfast.
Freshii is vegan and vegetarian-friendly because people are able to choose their own proteins and personalize their meals in the make-it-yourself option. People can choose from wrap, salad, bowl or burrito. Then they choose from numerous vegetables and sauces. The ingredients are natural and fresh and some are even organic.
The portion sizes are on the larger side, but still healthy because of all the vegetables in it. Also, Freshii does not fry any of the vegetables, so when people eat the vegetables it is still essentially healthy.
While at Freshii I tried the Bliss Bowl, which contains brown rice, roasted peppers, mushrooms, avocado, tomatoes, goat cheese and aged balsamic vinegar. This dish is colorful and flavorful. In the dish, I noticed the strong flavors of the vegetables.
Another thing that is worth trying is the personalized option. I made my own noodle bowl and added various types of vegetables. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and I wasn’t worried about the calories or fat.
However, I wouldn’t recommend choosing a sweet sauce because it made my dinner feel like dessert. Dessert came later. To finish my meal I had a refreshing, fat-free frozen yogurt with strawberries and brown sugar. There is an abundance of toppings to choose from that they mix into the yogurt.
The atmosphere in Freshii is very open and spacious. The walls are filled with the color green to emphasize the eco-friendliness. There is a modern feel with comfortable chairs to sit with a small or large group of people. Freshii is also an ideal place to work on homework or other group projects because of the quiet, clean environment. The restaurant is also a perfect place to take young children to eat. If someone is looking for a quick, healthy meal Freshii is the place to go. “Eat. Energize.”
