A taste test of Starbucks’ fall drinks
The 2022 fall seasonal menu from Starbucks consists of various autumn themed flavors including pumpkin, cinnamon and apple. Among these drinks are the Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato, Caramel Apple Spice, Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Chain Lattes. All of these are available as warm, cold, or frappuccino beverages.
On my visit to the Downers Grove Starbucks location on Ogden Avenue, I ordered a Caramel Apple Spice, Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte, Apple Crisp Oat Milk Frappuccino and Iced Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato.
“Some people have gotten this drink called a Caramel Apple Spice, and it’s just steamed apple juice with pumps of cinnamon dolce, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle on top,” said Ariel Wong, senior and Starbucks barista.
The Caramel Apple Spice was my favorite of the four I got. It was the perfect warm drink for a fall day. Specifically, the cinnamon dolce well accented the already delicious steamed apple juice. In addition, the drink smelled amazing. Generally, I prefer cold drinks, but this was phenomenal. Needless to say, I will be coming back to order another one.
“I have tried the Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks. I’ve been getting it for years, and it’s perfect for a cold day,” said Kara Levin, mother of Taylor Levin, senior.
Highly popular among Starbucks customers is the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Never having tried one before, I knew it was a must. I got it iced and was thrilled with the flavor. However, although I love coffee, lattes have never been my top pick. Next time I may try the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew instead.
“There was this one time I made an order of eight consecutive Pumpkin Spice Lattes,” Wong said.
Next was the Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato. I found this drink to be very delicious. I got it iced and highly enjoyed the presentation as well as the flavor.
“I have been getting Pumpkin Cream Cold Brews a lot recently,” said Elizabeth Singer, senior. “My friends Prachi Shah and Shannon Stover recommended it to me last year and It was really good, so I knew I had to get it again this year.”
Lastly, I got an Apple Crisp Oat Milk Frappuccino. This was a great treat, but a little too sweet for my taste. Having always enjoyed frappuccinos growing up, I knew I couldn’t do a review without trying one. Despite the overwhelming sweetness, the apple flavor was great.
Overall, all of the drinks I got were very good, and I definitely will be repurchasing them in the future.
