“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” came out on Sept. 6 as a sequel to the “Beetlejuice” original. Central students had a variety of opinions and insights about the making of the movie, the performances, and the overall reception.
Nate Merz, senior, said he has only seen the original movie, “Beetlejuice,” which came out in 1988.
“I have not seen the new one, but my favorite thing about the old one is all the goofy-looking characters, so you know it’s a fun movie,” Merz said.
He also mentioned themes of loneliness, grief, and family.
Senior Kamile Zinis has seen both.
“I saw both, and I think I like the first one more because the characters are more original, and in the second one the characters are a lot different, so it’s a lot harder to understand the plot,” Zinis said.
Zinis also mentioned themes she saw throughout both films.
“The afterlife is not really for everyone, and it’s not the end for everyone,” Zinis said.
Finally, freshman Richard Kluchenek talked about the comparison between the two movies.
“The second one is very modernized, and the first one is pretty old,” Kluchenek said.
Nevertheless, he has seen both movies and said he enjoyed them both.
Over this past weekend, I got the chance to watch the new movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” This movie was full of many unexpected surprises. This mysterious movie is a total of one hour and 44 minutes long. It is very modernized with new actors such as Jenna Ortega, Catherine O’Hara, and many more.
I enjoyed watching the movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” recognizing the similarities and differences between the old movie and the modern one that just came out. I think that the original film was easier to follow and understand rather than the new one being more modernized. I would rate this movie a 4/10.
