After a decade of doing gymnastics, Erin Morgan will be competing in her final meet. Morgan, senior, and Caylee Brenk, junior, will be competing in the state gymnastics meet this Friday. In the sectional meet, Morgan placed second in the all-around, finishing behind sophomore Kelsey Kurfirst from LT. However, Morgan took first on beam and vault and fourth on floor, qualifying her for all four events in the state meet. Brenk qualified and will be competing on vault at state.
Morgan competed with the team her freshman and sophomore year and qualified as an individual as a junior in last year’s state competition. Last year, Morgan placed fourth in the state for the beam event and finished tenth individually in the all-around competition. This will be her final time competeting at state. “It’s sad but exciting at the same time. I’ve been doing gymnastics since I was five, ” Morgan said. “My goal is to go four for four.” She wants to hit all her events, making a strong finish in the all-around competition in her final opportunity to compete.
