Class of 2016 reflects on their time at Central

The commencement ceremony was held on May 19 at Dickinson Field.

On May 19, the Class of 2016 put on caps and gowns and made their way to Dickinson Field for possibly their last time together, graduation.

Students at graduation reminisced on their favorite memories from high school, while celebrating the beginning of the rest of their lives.

As student speakers James Lee, Charles Wasz, Lauren Excell, James Walker, Hana Rimawi, and Presleigh Renner took the stage, it was obvious each graduate had fond memories and proud moments over the past four years.

Even teachers in attendance couldn’t help but reflect on the times they have spent with the Class of 2016. Mr. Scheldrup, science teacher, was glad he had gotten the opportunity to get to know some of the students.

“[When I see students walk across the stage] I feel excitement for them as they move onto the next chapter of their life,” said Mr. Scheldrup.

On the other hand, science teacher Mr. Jensen felt ready for the natural progression of the graduating students.

“Chickens have to fly the coop,” said Jensen.

As the current sophomores get ready to face the sea of standardized testing, and the current juniors kick off their last year by attending the senior tailgate, we congratulate the graduating red devils with their endeavors after Hinsdale Central.
