This November, all 224 members of ACE Club band together and begin their involvement with the Clubs That Care program.
Clubs That Care is a program that brings clubs together to help underprivileged families with their holiday shopping. Involved clubs adopt a couple of families and purchase holiday gifts for them.
“We get about three or four families to get gifts for, and then we go to target and buy gifts for the whole family. After that, we wrap them up and send them to the families,” said Kristen Worthington, senior and member of the ACE Club Board.
Club sponsor Ms. Lynn Hatzikostantis feels that the Clubs That Care program is an excellent organization. “Clubs That Care is an awesome organization; it’s cool to see clubs come together to help people who are not as fortunate as us,” Hatzikostantis said.
According to Worthington, the club members enjoy working with each other to help those in need. “The best part of Clubs That Care is definitely getting to be with all your peers from different sports working for a good cause. It’s fun to get to work with your teammates or peers while also helping out,” Worthington said.
Hatzikostantis says the best part of the experience is being able to hand out the gifts to the families the club supported. “My favorite part of the program is actually going and handing out the gifts to the families. Seeing where all the fundraising we’ve done is going is really cool,” Hatzikostantis said.
ACE meets every Wednesday before school in the auditorium. According to Worthington, ACE is ready for another year of charity and caring.
