Seniors Evan Blust and Jill Pocius won homecoming king and queen this year. The second runner-up for queen was Claudia Beard, and the first runner-up was Caroline Lorenzini.
“It’s amazing,” Blust said. “This week was a lot of stress, but a lot of fun.”
Pocius’ only comment was a thanks to all those who voted for her.
After performances from the color guard, cheerleaders, and pommers, last year’s student body president Bobby Budding, Joe Morris and the captains of varsity football announced the king and queen. However, before the king and queen were announced, the court enjoyed their time taking in the experience.
“It feels great to just be on the court,” said Nicky Relias, a senior on the Homecoming Court and student body president. “It was really hectic, though.”
The court spent a lot of time this week planning their skits, which they performed during the pep rally. The skits’ themes ranged from Hunger Games to a Sun Drop commercial to “Gangnam Style.” These skits are always an audience favorite.
Central’s Activities Director Pamela Kalafut said, “I think it’s pretty cool; what Hinsdale Central tends to do is they choose the king and queen for the right reasons– they’re popular for the right reasons. I like that. I’ve always been happy and often surprised with the end result.”
