The Variety Show this year held a myriad of acts, from vocal performances, to dances, to a juggling act and all the videos and skits in between. And as tradition has it, the first night of the show was Senior Night.
Mr. Robert Russo, a Social Studies teacher and the faculty supervisor for the Variety Show, has been working the show for 18 years and Senior Night has always been a part of the experience.
“I’m so excited to see all my friends and the seniors, because I hear they’re going to do really well. My friends and I went to the Army Surplus store and we have really cute outfits for tonight,” said Busy Hopper, senior, on Wednesday.
Senior Night allows seniors to get the front rows in the auditorium to sit with all of their classmates. Typically, the seniors pick a class dress theme in order to show their spirit. This year’s theme was army combat.
But while the seniors attending the show were excited to see all their friends, the senior performers participating in the Variety Show felt a new added pressure.
“[Senior Night] is a little nerve wrecking because it’s everybody you know and they’re all standing out there being loud. But that’s part of the fun of it,” said Sophia Brand, a senior performer in the Variety Show.
But for both seniors attending the show and seniors participating in the acts, it was an overall positive experience.
“I think the purpose of [Senior Night] is, during second semester seniors are really on the downhill slant towards college. So I think it’s a nice way to let the seniors have their pick of the nice seats and celebrate together their school years here,” Russo said.
