As the weather becomes cooler and the holiday season starts, many people decorate their houses with lights and props to enjoy the festive season.
“I love it when people put a lot of thought into their house decorations,” said Insiyah Moosabhoy, junior. “Especially before finals, all the lights bring me joy.”
After COVID, holiday decorations serve as a way to promote togetherness.
“I feel like we lost connectivity during COVID, and seeing all the lights up for the holidays again makes me feel that life is real and we’re not just in lockdown,” said Campbell Jones, senior.
Hinsdale Central decorated the commons with ornaments, golden lights and trees for everyone to enjoy the holidays.
“Hinsdale Central upped their game this year for in-school decorations which I found so cute and festive,” Jones said.
The holiday lights cheer many people and allows everyone to look at the beautiful props set up on people’s houses. It also gives people the opportunity to celebrate the multiple festivals celebrated during this month.
“I love seeing the lights, especially the twinkling ones,” said Chris Payne, student supervisor. “It puts me in a festive mood.”
