The National Honor Society has hosted several recent fundraisers at Hinsdale Central with the help of students in the National Honor Society. Some of the events were bake sale, blood drive, and selling home cooked desserts for charities. $2 from each homecoming ticket will be donated to Feed My Starving Children.
“We have a couple hundred plus kids who got accepted into NHS,” said Stephanie Hiffman, leader of the NHS Club. “Those kids stick with us and participate in a variety of volunteer and service and experiences that we provide through the school or what they do on their own.”
The NHS is about the four pillars of volunteering and for people who have shown exemplary status, not only in their grades, but how they hold themselves inside and out of school during volunteering and how they treat other people at school.
“NHS stands for growth in the community and putting Hinsdale Central above and showing people that we mean business,” said Emma Murphy, senior.
The NHS helps one another and earns money for charities and donations to help the community. “NHS is here to represent the school and make us look responsible and respectful to create a good community,” said Emma Knight-Jones, senior.
They have a variety of different ways to show helping hands.
“We do at least one blood drive, bake sale called sugar-wars, and food or goods drive for charity,” Hiffman said.
