Get a job

Some teenagers like to play around and be a kid while they can be, which is fun but others want to get ready for adulthood early and start learning what it’s like to have a job as a high school student. Some benefits that come along from having a job as a highschooler is learning how to manage and spend money, learning how to act professionally, learning how to use your time wisely, and just many other life skills such as building your confidence in working.

Others may say that having a job as a teen ruins their childhood because it puts them under too much pressure, it could affect their school work, and they could not be treated well because of their age. Although I agree with this viewpoint I still believe it could actually enhance their childhood, especially if they like their job and make many friends there.

If parents encourage their teens to get a job or the teens just want to get one by themselves, I think they could really benefit themselves in life. You can apply online to most jobs and then they will tell you to come to an interview and you will most likely get it, you just have to think of and find the right place that you would enjoy to work or be at.

Getting a job at a young age can make you learn how to manage your money and time. It can show you this because when you get your paycheck you will finally see how it feels to have that amount of money and what to do with it. With this much you can really have a perspective of how much money you need for things like college. This could make you want to save some money and not just spend it all on yourself to save up for stuff later in life like college.

Having a job also shows you how to manage your time because your day and life will be more packed, especially if you are in school. It can make you plan out more things like hanging out with friends or your family because some days you will be busy with work or school all day. This can make you look more into the future and plan things out more, which is a good, important life skill.

Another skill having a job as a teen can give you learning how to act in a job and how it can increase your confidence in yourself and working in an environment like that. It teaches you how to act professionally because you will see how others act when they are working with you and you will see why you have to act like that too. If you dont act the right way your boss or customers may get mad. An example is if you are being lazy and a little rude to customers they might go to your boss and tell them that their employees aren’t good and you could get fired. If you act professional and nice they might go to your boss or write a review that this place has very good employees and you could get a raise or promotion.

It also gives you confidence because it makes them feel accomplished and feel like they are actually gaining something when that paycheck comes in. According to teenlife.com they said that, “teens feel empowered, experiencing a sense of accomplishment and personal achievement.” I agree with this because it really does make you feel good. It also will make you more confident going into another job when you’re older because you have already had experience of what it is like to work.

I think that lowering the age to work at most jobs to 15 other than 16 could also be very beneficial to kids or high school students too. This could give people more of an opportunity to learn what a job is like at a younger age and have more experience for a longer time before they go into a real job. I have gotten many times where someone comes up to me and asks me if they could work somewhere even though they are 15. The answer for now at most places is no but if this change comes I think it could really benefit the teens today.

In conclusion, having a job as a teen can make you learn how to manage and spend money, learn how to act professionally, learn how to use your time wisely, and show you many other life skills like building your confidence in working. It is as easy as going on the website you want to work, clicking apply, and sending a job application. This is why I think you should go out and learn what it is like to work a job as a teenager.
