Boys’ soccer continues to roll

Junior Justin Yi ties up his cleats one more time before heading out to the middle of Centennial field for the national anthem. He and his teammates are gearing up to take down Proviso West to remain undefeated.

The Devils hold a 10-0-2 record, with wins at the Fremd Invitational and Hinsdale Soccer Invite.

The team mostly attributes their success to the determination behind the scenes.

“We put in a lot of hard work in practice. I think that’s what contributes, everybody’s working hard for each other,” Yi said.

Although the team is undefeated and ranked No. 16 in the nation, they are still hungry and determined.

“You can never be complacent. Every game is going to be a challenge. Every team is going to want to beat Hinsdale Central. To keep motivated we just pretend every game is the championship,” Yi said.

The next match for the Devils is against at Lyons Township on Saturday, Sept. 28.

“That’s a big rivalry game. Last year we won back the Silver Break…we’re looking to hold that,” Yi said.

Along with the Silver Brick, the Devils will be looking to defend their undefeated record.
