Wild Ginger adds a new flair to Hinsdale
Wild Ginger Asian Cuisine, opened in late 2014, is a wonderful addition to downtown Hinsdale. Their menu consists of a variety of selections from Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cuisines. Wild Ginger can also be considered contemporary Asian as they have an extensive sushi menu and many other unique offerings from their experienced chef.
As I entered the restaurant, I was surprised to see that it was empty especially because I dined there on a Saturday around lunch time. However, I imagine most of their clientele comes from the dinner rush and many people opt on placing carry out orders for lunch. Regardless, I hoped for the best while glancing over the menu and when experiencing the food.
For an appetizer, I chose the cucumber salad. The salad had a very clean presentation and tasted equally as good with the sesame oil and rice vinegar dressing. Next, A friend and I decided to order the Philadelphia roll and the vegetable roll. The Philadelphia roll, consisting of cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumbers, and scallions was obviously made fresh and the cucumbers and scallions were very crisp. The vegetable roll was made up of avocados, carrots, and cucumbers and tasted pretty ordinary in comparison to similar rolls from other restaurants.
Our meal went by quickly and the our waiter was attentive and polite, and even ready to break down the overwhelmingly long menu for us. They had many gluten free and vegetarian options for people of all sorts of dietary needs. The ambiance of the restaurant was classy yet casual and would be perfect for a date, a nice meal with friends, or family dinner.
