In a close game on Friday, Feb. 8, the boys basketball team lost to LT.

On Friday, Feb. 8, the boy’s basketball team faced off against rival Lyons Township at home. The boys lost 78-67.

The game started out close, with only a two-point LT lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead was then stretched to 5 at the end of the first half. Central then surged late in the fourth quarter, making it 66-60 with two minutes remaining. It wasn’t enough though, as LT finished the game out on top.

The Red Devils had a strong start in the first quarter, but LT quickly took the lead.

“We fought hard, but it just wasn’t enough. Now it’s just time to look at what we did wrong and make adjustments,” said Scott Bitautas, senior.

The theme for the game was a whiteout, and students were given free white shirts for attending.

“This was my last LT basketball game I can go watch, so it is sad to see us lose. Win or lose though I still had fun,” said Josh Lundmark, senior.

To get recognition for the game, social chairs Matthew Ritz and Tate Renner made a hype video, which took place in the main gym.

“We wanted every student to get involved and cheer on the team. Hype videos are something we’ve always done, and it seems to work,” Ritz said. “We decided not to do something money related like last year because we don’t think it’s a good reflection of our school. We instead went for a satanic ritual type of video.”

The next game will be at home against York on Friday, Feb. 15.
