HC girls’ tennis strives for another year of excellence
Due to high expectations from winning the state championship last year, the Hinsdale Central Girls Tennis team has some high expectations to reach for this year. The tennis girls are not shy to the idea of winning another state championship.
Senior Sandra Keta explained how the expectation every year for the team is to win a state championship, so this year is no different even with last year’s outcome.
“The expectations are pretty much the same,” Keta said, “we have the same goal every year.”
Although Hinsdale has lost some key State Championship winning players from last year, seniors like Sandra Keta are looking to step up. Due to years of looking up to great tennis players, this year’s seniors are ready for the challenge.
So far, they have played at the DGS Invite and in a meet against York, placing first place at the Invite and beating York without losing a single match.
Looking forward, the players are most excited for the meet against Lyons Township on Sept. 24 not only because of the school-wide rivalry against the Lions, but also because they consistently prove to be good competition.
