On Saturday, April 22, the varsity boys’ volleyball held a tournament at Downers Grove South. Downers Grove North, Lyons Township, Oak Park River Forest (OPRF), Glenbrook South, and other schools competed as well.

Glenbrook South ended up winning the tournament. Central lost to OPRF in their first game but won against Lincoln Way West and Maine South.

“This tournament is important because the teams we’re going to see are of a higher caliber and playing them will make us better and prepare us for our future matches,” said Nick Kujalowicz, senior and varsity volleyball member.

Central played Lake Park and Plainfield Central on Friday night, and OPRF, Lincoln Way West, and Maine South on Saturday.

“We lost to OPRF by two points but we play them again this Tuesday so hopefully we win,” said Jakobi Lange, senior and varsity volleyball member.

The team is focused on improving their skills for upcoming games as well.

“We have big conference matches coming up that are going to help us prepare for state,” Kujalowicz said.

With such a talented group of players, the team mainly focuses on working together.

“The boys are mainly working on their chemistry with each other as well as generating a lot of energy on the court,” said Amber Pelton, boys’ volleyball manager.
