Pronto, an Italian sandwich shop that opened in downtown Hinsdale a few months ago, is a must try for gourmet sandwiches which give you a burst of refreshing flavors.
The ambiance of this sandwich shop gives you a royal Italian vibe with maroon and gold accents around the restaurant with tables downstairs and upstairs. They also have an outdoor area to enjoy your food that is decorated with lamps and flowers.
“I love the ambiance of Pronto because it gives me such a positive vibe and feeling,” said Masha Teofanovic, senior.
The specialty of this restaurant is gourmet sandwiches using schiacciata bread, which is squished Italian bread to compliment different types of cheeses and meat. The restaurant also has a bar with beers and wine.
“This restaurant is my favorite because everything they serve is so fresh and delicious,” said Sofiya Qazi, senior. “My brother always gets the Coppola sandwich which has chicken, mozzarella and a delicious marinara sauce.”
The bread made at Pronto is all handmade in their kitchen and not store-bought. Their wheat used in making the bread is all imported from Italy.
“We make our own bread,” said Peter Burdi, the owner of Pronto. “We hired somebody in New York to teach us how to make the bread, and we also make each ingredient at our house, including all of our spreads and sauces.”
They serve each sandwich with kettle cooked potato chips. Each sandwich has a unique name such as Coppola, Sinatra, Dicaprio, which are based on famous celebrities.
“We name each of our sandwiches based on an Italian celebrity,” Burdi said.
