Chicago lovers may soon have a new favorite stop. Dutch Bros, the popular drive-thru coffee chain, known for its energetic workers and colorful drinks, is expanding into the Chicago market.
Originally founded in Orgeon in 1992, Dutch Bros has grown rapidly across the United States and has become especially popular among teenagers and young adults becasue of its creative drinks, upbeat atmosphere, and strong social media presence.
The company plans to continue expanding throughout Illinois, bringing competition to other major coffee chains already popular in the area. Many students say they are excited about the possibility of having another quick coffee option before school, sports, practices, or weekend activities.
Dutch Bros is best known for drinks like flavored cold brews, energy drinks called “Rebels,” and customizable coffees that appeal to younger customers.
Dutch Bros is also known for some of their most popular drinks like the Gloden Eagle, a vanilla and caramel creation, the Caramelize Mocha, and the Shark Attack Rebel, which combines blue raspberry, coconut, and lime flavors. Customers can also costomize nearly every drink with different syrups, toppings, and milk options.
“I will definitely be trying Dutch Bros coffee, and I also want to use some of their super colorful energy drinks,” said Kendall Brower, freshman.
Even if the first location has opened in Melrose Park, Ill., many students say the twenty minute drive will be worth it.
“I’m super excited for Dutch Bros to come to Chicago; I know I’m definitely going because I want to try it for the first time,” said Franky Chemmachel, senior.
Dutch Bros stands out from other coffee chains because of its fast service and friendly customer interactions. Employees value creating a fun environment for customers while they wait for their drinks. This positive experience has helped the company build a loyal fan base in many states.
“I know that 7 Brew is the same way with the atmosphere, and so I’m excited to see how it would be at Dutch Bros. I’m also excited about the coffee,” said Tayah Arnouk, junior.
With creative drinks, popularity, and a fun atmosphere, Dutch Bros could quickly become a favorite stop for students and coffee lovers.
