If you would have told students at Hinsdale Central a couple of years ago that they had to wear Birkenstocks on a daily basis, they would have cried at the thought of wearing the old fashioned sandal in public. However, Central students today would die for a pair of Birkenstocks.

The shoes started to become popular at Hinsdale Central last year. Imaan Qadir, junior, feels the shoes have come into to style because they can be customized.

“They’re really cute and come in so many styles and colors,” Qadir said.

“[Birkenstocks] are really comfy and they go with everything” said Angela Senese, senior.

Birkenstocks are a very versatile shoe. Along with many other outfits, they can be dressed up with a sundress, worn as a put together comfortable look with boyfriend jeans, or worn with leggings for a casual look.

The trendy shoes have soles made from cork, which shape to your feet, making them great for walking anywhere, from the halls of Hinsdale Central to the streets of New York.

For a casual look, I suggest the Mayari style sandal or the classic Arizona style. For a more put together and sleek look, I suggest the Arizona style sandal or the Gizeh style.
