Free People comes to Oakbrook Center
Free People is known for having the latest in modern boho styles. On Nov. 11, a brand new location in Oakbrook Center opened up, bringing the most coveted looks to the popular suburban shopping destination.
On Nov. 10, a preview party before the grand opening was held at the location, which treated guests to sneak-peeks of what’s to come as well as food and refreshments.
“It’s so awesome that they finally have one at Oakbrook. It was so pretty and all of the displays were set up so nicely. I wanted to buy everything,” said Olivia Carter, senior who attended.
Before the opening, the the five other locations in Illinois could only be found in places like downtown Chicago as well as surrounding areas such as Highland Park.
What sets this particular store apart from others, is that it’s the closest to the Hinsdale area, satisfying both students and local shoppers looking to get their hands on the clothes without traveling too far.
“I really like the idea of expanding into the suburbs,” said Lia Gorogianis, a Free People stylist in Chicago, who also helped with the Oak Brook store set-up. “The suburban stores allow for more product because the spaces in malls are typically large whereas the city stores tend to be smaller.”
This location will feature everything from essential pieces to more unique textiles, as well as accessories and jewelry.
“Customers will be able to shop a large selection of dresses varied in multiple fabrications,” said public relations member Katerina Patouhas, in a press release. “The store will also be stocked with an assortment of bags, jewelry, belts and socks.”
The brand’s overall identity places emphasis on creativity, art, travel and music that is expressed through their merchandise. Through its decor and the entire customer experience, the store aims to capture the bold, free-spirited side of the brand.
“The concept for the new location will be centered on the more rugged side of the Free People girl, designed to resemble her studio workshop,” Patouhas said in the press release. “Customers will be greeted through custom steel double doors surrounded by white wood cladding. The palette throughout the space is light and feminine.”
With the mid-November opening, the store expects floods of shoppers looking for gifts later this season as well those who are preparing their Winter wardrobes.
“Cold weather accessories will be available from hats, gloves, scarves, and earmuffs, just in time for holidays,” Patouhas said in the press release.
In addition, the location also features a team of stylists who are present in store to assist shoppers in selecting the perfect styles. Customers may also even schedule a one-on-one appointment with a stylist for a more personal shopping experience.
As well as Free People, the mall has also been busy with the many new store openings happening this season. Stores such as Altar’d State, Ecco, Fabletics, and new dining options have opened as well and are ready for customers to start enjoying.
