Hinsdale Central girl’s varsity soccer poses after their hard work during the game.

On Thursday, May 4, the Hinsdale Central’s girls soccer team played against Downers Grove North High School on Dickinson field at 6 p.m. The Red Devils came out victorious with a final score of 3-0.

The goals were scored by Julia Marinaccio, Avery Edgewater, and Carter Knotts.

“We’ve had a really good season so far, this is probably the best that the program has done in a few years now which is really promising for state,” said Ryann Knapp, junior. “I love spending time with the team, we do pasta parties and it’s really nice getting close to everybody this year.”

This game was also senior night, recognizing the seniors on the team including Carter Knotts, Ava Elliot, Maddy Panveno, Maddie Lipman and Mariella Andrews.

“It was a really good game to send off the seniors and watch them celebrate with their parents and teammates,” said Christine Schuten, who attended.

As the team approaches playoffs, they are currently ranked fifth in conference standings.

“We felt so honored and appreciated by the entire girls soccer program and we would like to thank everyone who came out to support us,” said Carter Knotts, senior and soccer team captain. “With it being our last home game ever on Dickinson Field, a collective team win against a conference rival made it definitely a game that we will forever remember and cherish.”

Their next game will be on Monday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m. at Nazareth Academy.
