On Nov. 15, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fought at AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas. This fight was very hyped up by everyone, and the fight was supposed to happen in July but due to Tyson’s health, they delayed it to November, according to the Today Show.
The fight was on Netflix but due to so many people on the site, students say they experienced a lot of buffering and lagging.
“The fight was a major letdown, and Netflix was lagging,” said Pietro Pamfili, senior.
There were some matches that went before the main event. For example, Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano, and Mario Barrios against Abel Ramos ended in a split draw.
“Mike Tyson is 58. I’m surprised he made it for eight rounds, ” said Nathan Levendel, senior.
Overall, in my opinion, the fight wasn’t good and the undercard matches were a lot better. Mike is 31 years older than Jake, and Mike couldn’t move in the ring that much due to his knee injury. He also didn’t throw any punches when he had many opportunities to.
“The fight wasn’t worth staying up for. It was horrible,” said Teddy O’Hara, senior.
A lot of people say that the fight was rigged due to Mike Tyson barely throwing any punches. I agree with these claims. Even though Mike is 58 and had a knee injury, he still missed a lot of punches that he could have thrown but he didn’t. Also, in his sparring videos, he was very fluent and smooth and actually threw punches. But in the ring, he was slow, stiff, and didn’t throw that many punches.
