Freshmen voted for their new senators at the beginning of October, and the senators have been able to meet with Student Council to begin work.

On Oct. 4, the freshman class voted for its new class representatives including senators and their class president. These new representatives were elected because they are seen as great options to help give the student body a voice in differing school decisions and promoting school spirit.

The senators that were elected for the class of ’26 include Zayna Asabi, Sameea Patel, Adriana Giannini, Dylan Kassab, Ella Russel, Gene Riordan, Dana Mayer, Finley Korn, Maddie Henry and their class president Jack Zelenka.

We talked to Maddie Henry, a cheerleader and pommer, on her view stepping up as one of the new representatives of her class.

“I wanted to get involved at Central as well as positively impact our school,” Henry said.

The senators are also involved in planning and participating in fun events including pep rallies, homecoming, and spirit days.

With COVID coming to an end, the school year can finally go back to normal. Henry said she is hoping to connect the freshman class and make this school year fun and safe for everyone.

“I would like to overall create a more positive and social learning environment,” Henry said.

Along with the senators, the freshman elected Jack Zelenka as their class president. Zelenka is a hockey player and joined microfinance club. He will be joining the class of ’25 president Tyler Thick, class of ’24 president Will Kusak, and Class of ‘23 president Ben Monahan.

“I thought I would be a good representative for the freshman class and be able to convey everyones opinions,” Zelenka said.

Zelenka said he is proud and excited to take on this major role at Central. All class presidents have to represent their class in a positive way and encourage everyone to have the most school spirit.

“So far I have seen that we make some important decisions for all the classes and it’s a role that I am proud of,” Zelenka said.

The freshman representatives have only had one meeting so far as Student Council. Both Henry and Zelenka said they are excited to learn more about their role and how they can be involved with the class of ’26.
