On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Red Devil Service Club took part in their annual day of service.

Co-sponsored by Lisa Sopiarz and Sara Pendergrass, the club took on a variety of different volunteer opportunities, along with a few other clubs at Central. A few of the clubs involved include Business Professionals of America (BPA), care club, and the boys basketball team. Overall, 200 students and staff participated in the event, with 75 being members of Red Devil Service Club.

For the past six years, minus 2020, Red Devil Service Club has participated in the Day of Service.

“Volunteering in service is so important to get out into your community,” Sopiarz said.

This day allows students to reach out and assist communities beyond Hinsdale as well.

“I get to gain new insights about the world around me and help those in need,” said Paige Lambert, senior.

Participants volunteered at People’s Resource Center, Maple Grove Forest Preserve, The Backpack Project, Feed My Starving Children, and Hinsdale Humane Society, to name a few.

“It’s a way to be thankful for the privileges we have and help others who don’t have them,” said Leah Bradley, senior and club president.
