Hot chocolate is available on Friday mornings on Dec. 2, 9 and 16 in the cafe from 7:15 to 7:55 a.m. free of charge for students.

Hot chocolate Friday’s return to Hinsdale Central in the cafe from 7:15 to 7:55 a.m. on Friday Dec. 2, 9, and 16. This long-standing school tradition allows students to get free hot chocolate with whipped cream on these Friday mornings.

“I think it’s a good way for students to get a little cheer in the winter time,” said Jenna Nabelsi, senior.

The hot chocolate is purchased by the Hinsdale Central PTO and served to every student who wants some.

“We reached out to the PTO to have something for all kids, and so they sponsor this event every year,” said Sally Phillip, activities director.

While other events and sponsorships at Central are meant directly for certain students, the hot chocolate is provided to all.

“I like that they will help sponsor things that get to every student, not just a certain club or group,” Phillip said.

The music department is also featured on hot chocolate Friday’s. The band, choir and orchestra all get an opportunity to perform in the morning.

“The music puts me in the holiday spirit, which I think is needed by a lot of students right now,” said Nikita Patel, senior.

Students hope the hot chocolate Friday’s will continue for years to come.

“It’s a good way to start off the day,” Nabelsi said.
