The Hinsdale Central girls’ softball is currently 4-0, as they have won all home and away games this season against Reavis, Nazareth Academy, Saint Ignatius College Prep and Berwyn/Cicero Morton.
On April 10, 2025, the team dominated their game, winning seven to zero.
The varsity team is ready for another busy season as they have 20 more scheduled games.
Members of the team are proud of what they have achieved so far into the season.
“Everyone has been coming together and communicating so well, ” said Audrey Araujo, junior on varsity. “We have always been described as a small young team, but we’ve shown big growth this year.”
The girls have personal goals that they would like to accomplish before the end of the season.
“My personal goal is to bring my batting average up and for my team to win more conference games,” said Madeleine Montanye, junior on the team.
The softball team has specific ways that they prepare for important games.
“We have practice every day, so that is a big way we prepare, but during practices we work on certain infield citations that could happen, as well as base-running,” said Natalia Trejo, junior.
The players also have pre-game routines outside of practicing that they undergo.
“For upcoming games, we are studying stats and watching the film of our opponents,” Araujo said. “We also set small goals, besides for winning, that we can focus on during the next game.”
The day of games, players each have their own schedules that they go through in order to make sure that they are physically mentally ready to compete.
“My pregame routine is always listening to music, and eating good food throughout the day so that I can be energized for the game,” Montanye said.
Other players have more intense procedures on game days.
“My pregame is going down to the trainers and heating my back, as well as always stretching and throwing on the field,” Araujo said.
