Fashion central: urban chic

Senior Cara Jaeger wore an outfit that not only inspires elegance and sophistication, but also makes me think of White House || Black Market gone urban.

What do I mean by that? She’s taken a mature fashion color pallet, black-and-white, and style, the collared-professional look, and made it age-appropriate. Pairing this outfit with the beat-up combat boots was a great idea—they dressed-down the outfit without making it look sloppy. And the detailed umbrella print on the shirt is great and adds a whimsical touch to the sophisticated outfit.

And not only does it look adorable, it’s also practical. Cara’s classy black-and-white ensemble is actually a skirt and a shirt, even though it appears to be a dress. What she did is a very sneaky way to get more “wear time” out of her clothes: today her skirt looks like it’s a dress, but when she wears it next, it could just look like a skirt and no one would know it was that same article of clothing either time.

Her collared blouse can be found at Nordstrom for $36.00. Her knit mini-skirt is $49.00 at Urban Outfitters, in various colors. Her inspiration? Spencer from the hit TV-show, Pretty Little Liars.
