With 361,500 TikTok followers, a large public audience, and a strongly built fan base, Eric, otherwise known as the famous “care-free dancer” has been spotted in neighboring areas.
Eric has gained massive popularity through his TikTok content including going on live and positive videos. In both, he posts videos of him spontaneously dancing on sidewalks at major crossroads in the area. His fan-base applauds him for his ability to make his followers and people driving on the road crack-up.
“I was driving and saw him jumping up and down; I have never laughed so hard…everyone was rolling their windows down and hyping him up,” said Talia Maghrabi, senior.
Many applaud Eric’s confidence; he uses his platform not only to make people laugh but to give everyone the confidence to be themselves and express themselves freely no matter where they are. On the road, though a distraction, the community is connected through rolling their windows down and encouraging and applauding his confidence.
“We got down and watched him and he invited us to join so we all danced with him. It was so funny,” said Willa Braden, senior.
Many people have pulled to the side and danced with him in his lives; he is known to be very kind and welcoming. In his life, Eric has been confronted by police several times and has faced insensitive comments but he sticks to his title and shows his viewers how to embrace their freedom and ignore negative input.
He is most commonly spotted in the suburbs of Chicago, including towns such as Burr, Ridge, Oakbrook, Hinsdale, and Bolingbrook. According to his live times he is usually out and dancing for two to three hours on end.
“I see him on someone’s snap story like once a week and I jump up from what I am doing to go look for him,” said Teema Kaakkaji, junior.
Care free Dancer brings the community together through his confident dance moves out in public; his appearances on social media has been given a lot of attention as he easily makes his community laugh and support him, according to students who enjoy his dancing.
Next time you’re out on a ride, be on the lookout for him; if you see someone dancing in a crazy manner on the corner of the street you probably caught Erik.
