The 2026 Super Bowl took place in the Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8. Football fans came together to watch the Seattle Seahawks play against the New England Patriots. Students at Hinsdale Central attended Super Bowl parties where they enjoyed food and the company of their peers while watching the game.
The Seahawks won the game with a score of 29 to 13. Many Seahawk fans in the media give praise to their running back, Kenneth Walker, after a phenomenal performance on the field. Patriot fans were disappointed, but are proud to have their team appear in a Super Bowl for the 12th time.
“I was really confident in the Seahawks taking the win, and I was excited when they did. My friends and I watched [the game] at my house on the big screen and it was a great time,” said Jad Dola, a senior.
Aside from the astonishing plays made by both teams, many people were most excited about the additional entertainment, like the commercials and the halftime show. Companies presented commercials with various famous singers and actors dedicated to the Super Bowl. Many fans were shocked and fascinated to see certain people play on them.
The halftime show was a popular performance for students at Central and for fans all over the media. Bad Bunny, the headliner, delivered a vibrant performance that celebrated Puerto Rican culture and unity.
“I honestly only watched the half time show. Bad Bunny did amazing. I loved his props and performance. When I saw random famous people in his background dancers I was screaming with my friends,” said Ana Ferrell, a senior.
Bad Bunny’s performance was set up so that he was walking the streets of his home country, Puerto Rico, where he encountered many symbols of latin culture as he sang. Some highlights from his performance were the appearance of Lady Gaga and Cardi B, the moment he gifted his grammy to a young boy and the moment a couple got married mid-song.
The performance was very thrilling and entertaining to fans in the stadium and those watching globally. He performed many of his Spanish hits while representing his culture.
“The Super Bowl was a great opportunity to come together with family and friends and it was a thrilling watching experience, I can’t wait for next year,” said Rala Azim, a freshman.
Students at Hinsdale Central had a great time watching one of the most watched sporting events of the year. With a blend of sport, culture and entertainment the Super Bowl was a hit this year.
