The countdown for prom is officially on, and girls are nearing the end of choosing a perfect dress for their special night. Prom for Hinsdale Central seniors is being held on Friday, April 17 at Navy Pier in Chicago for the second year in a row.
Girls have a wide variety of preferences for their prom dresses, with girls choosing different styles, colors, and fabrics.
“I ordered my dress online because it was the most convenient for me,” said Maddie Chillo, senior. “It is a beautiful green dress that has a corset on top and has a silk train on the bottom.”
Other students went in person to make sure that they found the right dress for the special occasion.
“I went to a store called Peaches to get my prom dress,” said Kendall McCain, senior. “There were so many girls at the store from places all over the Chicago area. The wait was so long to try on dresses, but it was definitely worth it when I tried on my dress.”
Some students are choosing to have a minimalist look, while other girls’ dresses are full of sequins and glitter for their senior prom.
“I definitely went all out for prom this year,” McCain said. “My dress is gold and has a lot of sparkles and sequins on it. I think that it is very unique and such a gorgeous dress.”
Other students are glamming up their prom looks by doing their hair and makeup in a special way.
“I’m wearing a green silk dress that has an open back,” said Ryan Baltazar, senior. “To accentuate my look a little more, I am pulling my hair back into a bun up-do. I’m excited to do something different with my hair because I don’t see a lot of girls putting their hair up for prom anymore.”
Students at Hinsdale Central are excited for prom night in general and all of the festivities that come with it.
“I am super excited to see what the dance will be like,” Chillo said. “I heard that there was going to be a live DJ and that there will be other activities like caricatures and a photo booth.”
Other students are excited for their post prom plans.
“My friends and I are all going up to a lake house after prom and it should be the best time,” Baltazar said. “‘I’m happy to spend time with my whole group of friends before we all leave for college.”
