In Illinois during fall the weather is constantly changing. It’s important to know what to wear and how to dress with all the different types of weather.

As the weather gets colder our wardrobe changes a lot in many different ways. It’s important to know where to shop, how to stay warm but also remember to keep your own sense of style with it. One of the most popular aspects of fall fashion is the cozy sweaters. Sweaters are very popular during the fall time. They not only keep you warm but also add style to your outfits. Another fashion trend we will be seeing a lot of this fall are fur coats. They are so soft and comfy but also add a little to every outfit.

Now that you know what to buy it’s important to know where to buy it from. You need to know where to shop so you can find the best quality of clothing. Lauren Panveno, Sophomore, loves to shop. She always knows what to buy and where to buy it. When asked where she’s currently shopping, this was her response.

“I’m shopping at Aritzia, Lulu, Gap, Brandy and Aviator Nation. I think the best [store] is Aritzia because all their items are warm and really good quality, they also have a lot of neutrals that make making outfits easier,” Panveno said.

“Currently I’m shopping at American Eagle for jeans, UGG for shoes and Altar’d State for pants and sweaters,” said Joely Frustaci, Sophomore, who takes Fashion Merchandising as a class at Hinsdale Central.

Going into a new season we will be seeing different colors than we did in the summer. When it comes to colors, earthy tones will be used a lot. Dark reds, oranges, yellow and browns are all popular choices. These colors reflect the changing leaves that create a cozy and warm atmosphere.

“I will be wearing more dark and muted tones. Blacks, grays, browns, mustard and red,” said Lisa Sopiarz, Fashion and Merchandising teacher at Hinsdale Central.

Layering is key to staying warm during the fall season. It allows you to mix and match different pieces of clothing to create a unique and warm look. You can layer in a pop of color over neutral colors to make it stand out. Another way to stay warm is hats and scarves. A hat or scarf can match or be different and they can be your bright color you may need in a neutral outfit.

“I love wearing warm jackets that match what I’m wearing because it keeps me warm but I really like the look a jacket gives,” Frustaci said.

Which brings me to accessories. Hats and scarves are not only ways to keep warm but they can also just be an addition to the outfit you have on. Accessories play a crucial role in completing your fall look. Belts, warm gloves and bags are also great accessories to add. This is what Panveno had to say about how her accessories have changed alongside the weather change.

“I have started wearing less jewelry because a lot of the time you can’t see some of it with warmer clothes on. Although, I still am a huge gold jewelry fan and think a gold hoop can be used year round,” Panveno said.
