The Chicago Cubs played a great game last Thursday May 7 at 1:20 p.m. against the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field. The final score was 8-3. The Cubs are off to a great start for the 2026 season and are currently sitting at the top of the NL Central with a strong winning record of 27-14. They are dominant at their home field with an 18-5 record at Wrigley Field.
The stadium was filled with extra energy last Thursday because many kids in the Chicago suburbs took a day off to watch the game. Many Hinsdale Central seniors enjoyed the day with their friends as one of the last high school experiences they will have.
Students had early morning activities and got together before the baseball game.
“I had morning practice the day of the game and once it was done I hurried to get ready to go to my friends house. When I got there, we all had breakfast together and took pictures in our Cubs attire,” said Gabriella De Vita, senior.
Hinsdale Central girls loved dressing up for the baseball game.
“I got a Cubs jersey last minute from Dicks Sporting Goods, and I loved that I got to dress up for the game,” said Nikky Jones, senior.
Seniors at Hinsdale Central all took the train up to Chicago together to watch the game.
“We took the Metra up to Union Station and had to get there around 11:30 to make our train,” said Maddie Chillo, senior. “After we got to Union we had to hurry to go to another train station to catch the Red Line that would take us to Wrigley Field.”
Hinsdale Central seniors enjoyed watching the game with all of their friends.
“My friends and I were all sitting in the bleachers and had such a good view of the game. Hearing the excitement of all of the Cubs fans was so cool and was definitely way different than watching the game on the TV,” said Jones.
Other students had different favorite memories of the game.
“When I got to the game I got a true Chicago style hot dog and dill pickle tater tots,” said Chillo. “The stadium food was surprisingly really good.”
