The girls gymnastics team at Hinsdale Central High School has been making an impact this season through hard work, determination, and strong teamwork. With long practices and demanding routines, the athletes balance schoolwork while continuing to push themselves to improve both individually and as a team.
Practices and meets take place several days a week. Students focus on building strength and flexibility. Gymnastics requires focus, and each routine is the result of hours of repetition and discipline.
“Even though practices are long, they are so much fun and as a freshman I feel I have created so many new friendships with people older than me like seniors. I love the sport and have had so much fun,” said Haily Wisman, a freshman.
This season, the team has worked on improving consistency across all events, including vault, bars, beam, and floor. While competitions can be stressful, the athletes support one another through encouragement and positive energy.
“As a team we always make it a goal to support each other and make sure we are super loud when someone on our team is going through their routine. I also think that the time this year has never been closer and it’s so much fun,” said Julianna Nawracaj, a senior.
Beyond competition, the gymnastics team also represents school pride and sportsmanship. The athletes serve as role models for younger students who may be interested in joining the program in the future.
“I would definitely encourage someone who is interested in gymnastics to do it. We have so much fun and create such strong bonds. The meets are always so much fun and we are always supportive of each other,” said Kate Rischitelli, a senior.
As the season continues, the girls gymnastics team remains focused on finishing strong and improving with each meet. Through teamwork, and passion for the sport, they continue to demonstrate what it means to represent their school with pride.
