With the start of cold weather comes the start of many winter sports, such as basketball, gymnastics, track, boys swimming, and bowling.

The change in weather brings the start of winter sports, including boys and girls basketball, boys swimming and diving, girls gymnastics, boys and girls bowling, cheerleading, and poms.

The boy’s basketball season starts with its first official game on Monday, Nov. 19 at Naperville North High School, at 7 p.m.

“I’m just excited to create a great bond with the team and get a chance to play again on the home floor in front of our fans,” said Matthew Rush, senior varsity basketball player.

The girl’s gymnastics season will kick off with their annual Red vs. White Meet on Friday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. in the Fieldhouse.

At basketball practice, the boys scrimmaged against each other, with the losing side having to run across the court.

“I have been preparing as much as possible for the Red and White Meet. I injured my back the first week trying a new skill so I have been trying to practice as much as possible without furthering the injury,” said Elizabeth Floersch, senior gymnast. “This year is my last year and I am most looking forward to my senior night and being able to have my own gym family this year.”

The boys swim and dive season begins with their Red vs. White Meet on Friday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. at home.

“I am hyped to start off the swim season,” said Colin Pope, junior swimmer. “I can’t wait to spend time with my team and compete this year.”
