On Saturday, Oct. 6 boys varsity soccer played against Glenbrook North HS on their senior night. Central won the game 3-2.

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Boy’s Junior Varsity and Varsity soccer teams hosted their senior night on Dickinson Field. Both teams faced Glenbrook North, JV won 2-0 while varsity won 3-2.

The JV game was one-sided, as they held Glenbrook pointless. Duncan Usher, senior, and Zayd Alkadri, junior, scored the two goals.

“It felt good to score on my senior night. We played well as a team and we worked the ball well,”  Usher said.

In between the JV and varsity games, seniors met at midfield to celebrate senior night. Each senior was recognized with their parents and received flowers, a blanket, and a cutout of their baby picture. After receiving their gifts, they took a picture with their parents and coaches. After the individual recognition, all of the seniors took a group picture.

Both teams fought with the referee on multiple occasions because they disagreed with his calls.

“It felt good to be up there with my parents, but I’m sad my high school soccer career is coming to an end,” said John Paul Lteif, varsity captain. “I’ve played all four years, and I’m proud of what the seniors have accomplished as a class.”

The varsity game was a close battle, as the game-winning goal was scored in the final three minutes. Aidan White, junior, scored the first goal, followed by a goal from Kosta Kinnas, senior, and the game-winner from Ryan Counts, senior.

“The goal was a perfect end to my senior night,” Counts said.

The Junior Varsity team will next play an away game against Proviso East on Wednesday, Oct. 10. The next game for varsity will be away on Thursday, Oct. 11 against Addison Trail.
