On Friday, Feb 3, Hinsdale Central’s Cheer and Poms team both performed at the pep rally in preparation for Snowcoming.

On Friday, Feb. 3, Hinsdale Central hosted a pep assembly for the Snowcoming Dance. Students partook in various games, activities, and dances during the performance. The Hinsdale Central Poms and Cheerleading team both performed separate routines as well.

This performance is important to the team because it is one of the few times where the majority of the student body can see them perform,” said

Kim Fugman, head coach of the poms team. “It is longer than any of the other routines and it is more difficult than the routines they perform at games.”

Poms and Cheer both incorporated unique skills to their routines.

This pep rally included stunts, pyramids, team dance, senior dance, jumps and tumbling,” said Jennifer Ellinghausen, head coach of the cheerleading team. “Some of the pyramid skills or dismounts from stunts were new or different from our fall pep rally.”

The poms team did a senior dance as well.

There is a really cool kickline that the captains choreographed that is unlike anything they have previously done this year,” Fugman said. “There is also always a senior section where the graduating class can show off one last time.”

Cheerleading and Poms have both worked hard to perform for events including football, basketball, and pep rallies. Both teams are having another successful season, balancing all the events they participated in.

“The team needs to make sure that they are preparing for the weekly games while simultaneously learning the pep rally routine,” Fugman said.

Brynn Bauer, junior and varsity cheerleader, explains the team’s biggest accomplishments this season.

One goal we have focused on as a team is improving our mindsets and attitudes which I think have definitely improved,” Bauer said.
